Welcome to our GP practice, conveniently located close to the University of Chester. We understand that living away from home is a big change, particularly when it comes to managing your health. As you will be living in Chester for most of the year during your studies, it is important to register with a local GP as soon as possible rather than waiting until you become unwell. This is especially important if you have a long-term condition such as asthma or diabetes, or if you require regular medication. Your GP in Chester can also liaise with your usual hospital consultant if needed. During university holidays, you can still return to your home GP and be seen as a temporary patient if required.
Our friendly and experienced team provides comprehensive NHS medical care in a safe, confidential, and welcoming environment. When you contact the practice for an appointment, you may be asked for a brief description of your problem. This helps us prioritise your care and ensure you are seen by the most appropriate clinician at the right time. You may not always need to see a GP; our wider clinical team includes nurses and nurse practitioners, and in some cases you may be directed to other services such as the local Pharmacy First service available in West Cheshire.
We also support important public health initiatives. In West Cheshire, a chlamydia screening campaign is in place to reduce infection rates, which is why all young people aged 16–25 may be offered a test even if they have no symptoms and are attending the practice for another reason alternatively you can always visit The Sexual Health Hub
If you are in your first year of university, please ensure you have received the MenACWY vaccination. If you are unsure, visit www.nhs.uk or contact the practice to speak with a member of our team. We are here to support your physical, mental, and sexual health throughout your time at university, so you can focus on your studies with confidence and peace of mind.
