Pharmacy First (Minor Ailments Service)
Patients registered with a GP practice in West Cheshire are able to access advice and treatment at their local pharmacy (for specified conditions) without having to visit the GP for a prescription.
Patients who do not have to pay for their prescriptions will receive the appropriate medication free of charge from the Pharmacy.
Patients who do usually pay for their prescriptions, will pay the current prescription charge for each item supplied or the retail price (if this is lower and the item can be legally sold in this way.)

Services Provided:
Prescription only medicines offered by a limited number of pharmacies. Patients receive a consultation, advice and a supply of medicine for the following conditions:
Cystitis in women (Aged 18-65)
Conjunctivitis
Thrush in infants
Hay Fever
Impetigo (Aged 1 years and over)
Vaginal Thrush (Aged 16 to 60 years)

How does the service work?
Patients may self-refer by visiting the pharmacy, or be referred by a health care professional e.g. the GP surgery may refer the patient to the pharmacy rather than waiting for a GP appointment.
Patients will register into the service at the pharmacy of their choice the first time they use it. Registration is only required once.

To register the pharmacist will need the following information:
Name Date of birth
GP practice Postcode
For patients who don’t pay for prescriptions proof of exemption will be required.Once registered the patient can use any pharmacy offering the service.
